Are your poop bags biodegrable?

Answer: While our poop bags are not biodegradable, they are environmentally friendly. After research, we found people were not disposing of the bags in a biodegradable way, so we decided to create our own “green” waste bag. Are your pet waste bags ASTM D6400 certified?

Answer: The Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI) does not certify ASTM D6400 dog waste bags for the US market because they do not believe it is meaningful to set standards for products that cannot be used as intended. Most U.S. compost sites do not accept pet waste so that means that even if a pet waste bag is “compostable or biodegradable,” it will still act like a regular plastic bag when placed in a landfill and will not decompose. Since the majority if not all users of pet waste bags will throw them in the trash, this certification is not available for any pet waste bag, and you should beware of any company that says they are.
